DC Imposes Plastic Bag Tax

Washington D.C. imposed a tax on plastic bags effective January 1, 2010.  I was in a supermarket in D.C. just before New Years and noticed this sign:

Although not everyone thinks it’s the best way to implement a shift in societal norms, it sure is effective.  The Washington Post article below showed a drop of over 50% in plastic bag usage with one retailer as a result of the ban.  Here are a few articles about the ban:

Several other towns/cities have already implemented similar bans and still others are considering bans:

Is this the future?  If so, start buying some of these bad boys: http://baggubag.com/

  10. First off I want to say superb blog! I had a quick question in which
I’d like to ask if you don’t mind. I was interested to know how you
center yourself and clear your head prior to writing.
I have had a hard time clearing my mind in getting my thoughts out.

the structure of your blog? Its very well written; I love what
youve got to say. But maybe you could a little more in the way of content so people could connect with it better.
Youve got an awful lot of text for only having one or 2 pictures.

Maybe you could space it out better?
